Zapdos Day is the special challenge reward for the Pokemon GO Fest 2018 event. On July 21st, the legendary raid boss Zapdos will be returning to Pokemon GO. For a 3 hour event period trainers will have the opportunity to raid and capture a shiny Zapdos. To sweeten the pot, these Zapdos will know the fast move Thunder Shock!
Naturally, you’ll want to equip yourself with the best counters to Articuno. What I found when running simulations on Pokebattler and GoBattleSim is that your best bets will be Smack Down Tyranitar and Stone Edge Golem. The Community Day Smack Down Tyranitar is the most powerful option but Golem’s extreme tankiness shouldn’t be overlooked. Overall, I suggest the combination of the two species.
